Pilgrim Reads Discussion

  • Pilgrim United Church of Christ 3011 Academy Road Durham, NC 27707 United States (map)

Coffee & Childcare included

Pastor Lindy shared a few specific books that have been guiding lights for her since Lanny died, each one giving her language for the emotional landscape of her journey. Since we know Pilgrim to be a church of readers and thinkers, we were confident that each of you had similar books or other forms of media that have helped each of you in your lives. So, rather than offer a standard book club we thought that Pilgrim Reads could instead be an opportunity for deeper fellowship and mutual resource/wisdom sharing.

Mindy came up with the lovely design for the Pilgrim Reads bulletin board (check it
out!) outside of Pastor Lindy’s office, where each month or so we will post Pastor Lindy’s review of a book. We will also have a few copies on hand for those of you interested in reading the book she has reviewed. On the sides of the board are columns where everyone is invited to add the names of books, podcasts, movies etc. that have been particularly helpful for you in your life. If nothing else, the board itself can be a focal point to share helpful resources with each other.

Then on 3rd Sundays, from 9:30-10:15am, we’ll have a drop-in guided discussion on a type of struggle and ways we’re learning to move forward (coffee and childcare provided. The focus struggle for June and July will be “when we don’t want to accept reality/when we are in shock.”
