On February 11, Pilgrims will have the opportunity to take part in One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS)

This special mission supporting the larger UCC commitment to involves you in disaster, refugee/immigration, and development ministries throughout the world. When a disaster strikes or people are displaced or made refugees by violence or extreme poverty, you are part of the immediate response and of the long-term recovery. Through OGHS we engage in holistic development programs including health care, education, agriculture, food sustainability, micro-financing and women’s empowerment. Because the UCC relates in mutual partnership to churches and organizations through Global Ministries and worldwide response & recovery networks to provide the relief, accompaniment, and recovery of the most vulnerable. OGHS meets immediate needs and addresses the underlying causes that create those needs in the first place.
 
During the service envelopes will be available for additional individual contributions to add to a donation made by our church council on behalf of our community.
 
In Addition, we will have a tangible opportunity to provide hands-on support to people in need. We are obtaining a grant from UCC which the board of Christian Services is matching to purchase the supplies to make 80 hygiene kits. These kits are a first line of help with people who have been impacted disasters. The kits include; a towel, washcloth, comb, fingernail clipper, bar of soap, toothbrush and toothpaste and band-Aids. On the 11th during fellowship, we will have tables set up and request community support putting the kits together.
