Mental Health Bible Study | Sunday, October 31st, 1-3pm. Where? Pilgrim Patio
Details: Last session was more introductory but we will now be focusing on depression for this session. You are invited to any session that is of interest!
Depression affects millions of Americans and is a common mental illness experienced by people on the LBGTQIA spectrum. It is common to experience shame and stigma surrounding mental illness (1 in 5 adults), serious mental illness (1 in 25), dementia (1 in 14 over the age of 65), or other numerous neurological disorders, which can often be compounded by feeling unsupported in your gender identity or sexual orientation. What makes it difficult to talk about mental illness? Where does stigma come from, and what are some ways we can combat it? How can our faith help or hinder us? Let us share in faith and fellowship as we discuss these important questions and more together.
