Lenten Series: Race and Our Stories has launched and will continue for 5 total Wednesdays, ending on March 24th! Latecomers are welcome!

Here is the recurring zoom link for the meeting.

Here is the interest sign-up list, everyone is welcome to just show up, but if possible signing it does help us with planning.

At right is the recommended work to prepare for Session 4, (not mandatory, but very helpful).

“Telling the Truest Story We Can”

-Read this article or this one on how the way we frame memories to influences us and how family history can ground us.

-Make a call: Contact a family member/ parent figure and if helpful explain the Lenten series and your task--to talk with a family member about memories related to race and racism. As best you can start a conversation with a spirit of curiosity, what were they taught, how and why? Who did they look up to? What did they do with what they were taught with others they could influence? Where did it get complicated?

-Reflect: How did this conversation help you to find moments where you might have been taught damaging concepts as well as times where you might have gained wisdom, grounding, or resilience?

Ask yourself,--how have you “taught/reinforced stories of race to others?” and “how have you or might you interrupt stories that are incorrect or incomplete?”
