Greetings from Greyson May 10
VBS 2024
Hi Pilgrims!
One of the things that I am most excited about in getting called to Pilgrim is how ministry here is seen as deeply relational. As a newcomer, this is evident, and it flows throughout the entirety of life here at Pilgrim. I saw this in my first visit to Pub Theology on Monday, where attendees were able to share their passions, experiences, and differing perspectives with trust that their voices would be honored. I saw this in the meetings I have attended, where ideas and skills are offered to meet needs in our community. And I see this in the PUCC kids, who seem to feel perfectly comfortable in a church space, something I know many of us do not take for granted, having come from church hurt ourselves.
As I live into that relational ministry here in my 4th week at Pilgrim, I am thinking about our theme for Vacation Bible School this year. We have taken inspiration from Mr. Rogers to “Find the Helpers,” to teach our kids about the importance of community in justice work. We cannot improve the world around us on our own. This leads to burnout and disillusionment. Rather, we must connect with one another in relational ministries, lifting each other as we go. We must know when to ask for help, who we can go to for help, and how to help others. This is what we plan to discuss at VBS!
VBS this year will be offered for a full week, June 15th-June 19th from 8:30am-3pm. Like last year, we will be taking field trips to Woodcroft Pool in the afternoons. If you would like to learn more for your children, or if you would like to volunteer, please reach out to me at revgreysonkentopp@gmail.com
May moments of peace find each of you this week,
Greyson
