A Letter from Lindy May 31

Hello Pilgrims,

I’m writing this note on Wednesday, our last week in May, knowing that as we move closer to the weekend, there will be more pressing demands on everyone’s plate, with all that is on our weekend schedule.

So I offer my gratitude now for the myriad of ways Pilgrims will show up to lend a hand in whatever capacity is needed. We are a people who have learned to pivot and adapt when necessary, always commendable traits to celebrate. I also know that no matter how attentive we have been to the details, not all things will go according to the plan, and that is to be expected and we need to offer each other grace upon grace.

As I wrote a coordinating email to the many volunteers for Nick’s memorial service, I marveled at the number of Pilgrims who are showing their love through sweat equity. Emily was at church yesterday to walk through the service, bring photos, note cards, tissues, and to get her bearings before Saturday. She was deeply moved by the ways her church was surrounding her family in this fragile time. She came with lists and with every question, “what about…?” we had an answer, and she could check the item off. I pray we laid to rest any sense of worry or obligation that she needed “to do” something, when all we want her to do is “to be.” I remarked, as we caught our breath later, that I couldn’t imagine not having a church family in such times. She could not have agreed more.

You are a special people, Pilgrim.

grateful for you,

Pastor Lindy
