A Letter from Lindy May 11

Hi Pilgrims,

Thank you to those who responded to the plea from my  “active pilgrim” email about my roof dilemma. I am grateful to share, for those curious, that it ended up being a somewhat minor repair which eased my anxious heart. Grateful am I to Jonathan Earnest who climbed around my attic to help diagnose and trouble-shoot the problem and next steps.  It truly takes a village to raise a pastor 🙂.

Speaking of gratitude, I can’t wait for you to venture into fellowship where you will be greeted with the beginnings of a transformed room thanks to Kim Theobald. Who, on her one week stint here from Wisconsin, offered her gifts (again) of painter extraordinaire, giving the fellowship hall a much needed facelift. I say again, for it has not been too many months since she did the very same to the entrance of our building, repainting our windows and doors with a bright new color that now welcomes all who come to our campus.  And if you happen to venture out onto the back porch, you will again see her expert handiwork on this secret space.

Like other Pilgrims who have come before her, one of the ways Kim gives of her time, talent and
resources is through quiet acts of service, fixing things around the church that need tending. The church always needs stewards who care for the campus entrusted to our care, and when they are gifted to us, we are eternally grateful.

An endnote of joy for this week was another gift– a fawn meandering the outskirts of our front
forest, pausing by the little library to take in the delight of our spring foliage. I know, I know, for some, deer are but a nuisance, but for Hannah and me, we were transfixed at her gracing us with her presence. As she crossed from the gazebo toward the columbarium, we scurried to snap a picture of one of God’s creatures, beyond humans, finding prayerful solace in our sacred space. If that indeed happened, we did not get down there quickly enough to capture it. Still, the image, even if
fantastical, warms my heart, as I hope it will yours. Can’t you just imagine it?!

I hope to gather with you on Mothering Sunday, also graduation weekend for institutions of higher learning, as we lean into the many forms of mothering that scripture reveals to those God has
entrusted to our care.

🙏 Pastor Lindy
